Benefits of Using Pedicure Liners

In this article, we are going to be focusing on pedicure liners, what they do, and how they can be beneficial to your salon’s pedicure chairs.

When it comes to working in a salon, making sure that all of your equipment is clean and sanitary should be one of your main priorities. Unfortunately, this means you have to spend most of your day conducting time-consuming and tiring cleaning procedures which can be very disheartening and for a lot of people, it pushes them to stop putting in as much effort into their job as they once did.

One of the things that you can do to make your life in the salon easier is to use pedicure liners for your pedicure chairs.

What is a Pedicure Liner?

A pedicure liner is a sheet of plastic which is used to cover the inside of the pedicure chair’s basin. As a result of using these liners you don’t have to worry about cleaning the basin afterwards and typically, since they are usually paired with a magnetic jet, you don’t have to go through the hassle of cleaning the pipes of the chair either.

When Are Pedicure Liners Used?

As we explained above, pedicure liners are usually used whenever a magnetic jet is used. This is because magnetic jets aren’t built into the pedicure chair itself but instead is an external component. Thus, regardless of whether or not your chairs have been equipped with a magnetic jet, you’ll be able to purchase one and start using pedicure liners to keep your salon as clean as possible.

The Benefits

Now that you have an understanding of pedicure liners and how they can be used, let’s take a look at what benefits there are to using them.

Cleanliness. Nobody enjoys cleaning, especially when it comes to pedicure chairs. When you consider how easy it is to clean a massage table or a regular chair, the cleaning process for a pedicure chair is thorough and can really tire you out. When you use a pedicure liner you are removing the most intense part of the cleaning process – cleaning the pipes – and you can clean the rest of the chair within minutes.

Sanitary. On top of making it easy to clean, since the pedicure chair’s pipes aren’t being used, the water that is being drawn through the magnetic jet is incredibly clean in terms of bacteria. This is because no pipes are used whereas if you were to use the pipes, there will always be bacteria lingering.

Reassurance. Have you ever seen those homes which have their furniture covered in plastic covers? When you see a sofa with a plastic cover you automatically assume that it is clean and that it’s safe to sit on without getting dirt on your clothes. The same applies when a customer walks in and they see a pedicure liner in your basin – they automatically realise that the basin is clean and that you’re keen on making sure that your equipment is clean.

Saves Time. After you start using pedicure liners to streamline your cleaning processes efficiency, you’ll notice that you have a lot more time to spare. Rather than having to fill your day with cleaning your pedicure chairs, you can reduce your cleaning time by at least 10 minutes per chair, if not more, and spend that time improving your salon and getting everything in order.

Fit in More Clients! Above all, because of the time that it saves you, you can quickly wipe down the pedicure chair, replace the pedicure liner, and be ready for the next customer within minutes. This is by far the biggest benefit as the more clients that you pedicure, the bigger your profits.

Considering that there are so many benefits to using pedicure liners, they can also make you and your staff team’s lives less stressful, thus being able to provide a better level of service to your customers.

The Downsides

Of course, pedicure liners aren’t perfect and below we have detailed some of the downsides to using them.

Ongoing Costs. While they aren’t the most expensive thing in the world, you have to change the pedicure liner after every customer and if you have a busy salon, you’ll go through them at a pretty fast pace. Fortunately, you can purchase pedicure liners in bulk and they won’t make a dent in your profit, although it will still be added on to your ongoing costs.

Extra Equipment Required. If you’re going to be using pedicure liners, or you already do, then you’ll also need to invest in magnetic jets. By covering the pedicure chair’s jets you won’t be able to utilize it properly as it is covered by the liner and thus, you’ll need to consider getting magnetic jets for each of your pedicure chairs.

There’s no doubting that the benefits to pedicure liners heavily outweigh the downsides so if you don’t already use them, it’s definitely worth taking the time to consider them.

Should You Use Pedicure Liners?

Take a step back for a moment. Without pedicure liners, the pedicure chair’s basin is full of water that is being pushed throughout the piping system repeatedly to create a whirlpool effect which as a result, massages your customer’s feet.

Now, think about your feet for a moment – you are constantly walking around, they’re trapped inside of your socks and shoes, and let’s face it, our feet can get sweaty pretty easily. We can go a step further and say that during the Summer, you’ll take your socks off and put your sandals off so when you go the beach, you’ll get sand in between your toes and even more bacteria will cling to you.

So, with this in mind, imagine how much bacteria there would be in the pedicure basin and piping system if they weren’t cleaned properly. A lot. Of course, salons do everything that they can to get rid of this bacterium and minimise how much there is, but this isn’t always enough.

When you use pedicure liners you are preventing the piping system from being used and thus, a lot fewer bacteria is left lingering as most of it is either drained along with the water or binned with the liner.

To Conclude…

Now that you know everything about pedicure liners and what benefits there are to using them in your salon, you can take the leap and make a very minor (yet significant) change in your workplace. With this one simple change you are able to improve the cleanliness of your establishment, reduce the time that your employees spend cleaning, and even save yourself money in the long run – there’s no doubting that using these is the right move.
